Hi Everit St! I can't tell you how many times I've ridden the Trail and it wasn't until yesterday that I finally rode my bike up to this area to see what was really going on. When I looked through the gate, I could very easily picture people riding and walking through here, and very disappointed that we can't.

I remember hearing something about this being completed "soon" as well which from your comment has been said for quite some time now. I refuse to give up hope on this, especially since I just started biking a couple months ago and it has become my primary mode of transportation. Having this part of the trail opened up would make traveling around the city so much easier and safer for cyclists, so as a "bike friendly" city shouldn't this be a priority?

I'm sure there are more people who feel the same way we do, so let's put our heads and energy together and push to get this done. I'd be happy to reach out to New Haven Bike Month, as well as Elm City Cycling, and see what progress we can make if we work together.

You would think Doug Hausladen would be on top of this, wouldn't you? He is the transportation director and a big bike person. Doug????

UPDATE: Posted this issue on Twitter and tweeted at Doug Hausladen who very quickly responded! He said that this issue will be discussed at the next Downtown Wooster Square Management Team meeting on Tuesday, July 19th at City Hall, 6pm where City Plan will be reporting. All interested should come out to that meeting to receive an update and ask any questions. I plan to be there and then run to my own management team meeting :)

Received a detailed update from Karen Gilvarg of City Plan at the DWSCMT meeting on the 19th, along with drawings of the proposed plans for this stretch of the Trail, and it is going to be GREAT once complete! You can visit the City Plan office to see the plans in person.

It's 2016. Can't the city digitize them and put them online?

agreed.....just went to the City Plan website and there is a report but its about 10 yrs old (talks about bringing the line down from Hamden). For all the $$ we give to City Hall, couldn't we get annual (even semi-annual) updates?

Completely agree Ninky and Everit St.; at the very least scan the documents and add them as a pdf...
